What is the scrunchy life?
A quick Google search will tell you that “scrunchy” parents combine the crunchy (think: “natural,” unconventional, attachment parenting) with the silky (think : convenient, modern). Scrunchy parents are flexible, embracing both traditional and alternative practices. As a scrunchy parent, I breastfeed, avoid unnecessary medication and feed my baby homemade organic baby food. I also use disposable diapers, vaccinate my kid, and let him watch TV. Being a scrunchy parent may look completely different for you, and that is totally fine! It just means that you identify with other parts of the crunchy and silky lifestyles.
Being scrunchy isn’t limited to parenting! I have always felt torn between my love of natural, holistic practices and my enjoyment of glamour and comfort. When I became a mom, I discovered the term “scrunchy” and realized that it not only fit my parenting style, but also my life. I try to use as few toxins as possible on my body and in my home but I also love non- organic makeup and getting my nails done (chemicals and all).
When you live the scrunchy life, you are in a place between extremes. I read so many blogs during my pregnancy on the absolutely “right” and “wrong” way to approach pregnancy, birth and parenting. You won’t find that here – I am not an expert, of anything! I am just excited to share what has worked – and what hasn’t – for myself and my little family. I hope you enjoy, take what you like, and leave the rest.
I love to make new connections! Let’s get in touch – tell me how you’re living the #scrunchylife!
