As a stay at home mom, I don’t get a lot of time to myself – and that is totally fine! I am so blessed to be able to stay home with my baby and I wouldn’t want it any other way. However, my husband has been on vacation from work – so recently I have had the luxury of running out for a quick errand or lunch with friends on my own. Honestly, I’m so used to having a baby, carseat, stroller and diaper bag, that the feeling of going to Target with just my cross body is the equivalent to a tropical vacation and string bikini – #momlife.
Anyway, I thought it would be fun to do a quick bag spill with some of my favorite items. And for the mamas reading – a diaper bag spill will be coming soon!
Bag – Right now, I’m using this Kate Spade crossbody. I used to love big tote bags, but the convenience of a crossbody can’t be denied. Even when I don’t have my baby, I like the freedom of being able to use both my arms and the security having my bag actually on me.
Keys – anyone who knows me IRL knows that I always lose my keys (insert eyeroll). I thought that adding this big pink tassel on my keychain would help them to remain visible and in the forefront of my brain. It works! Kind of.
Sunglasses – I live in Syracuse, NY – where it is literally brighter in the winter than in the summer due to the copious amounts of snow we have on the ground. I’ve had these RayBans since a trip to Charleston, SC in 2016 and I still wear them all the time. I love the tortoise frames and mirrored lenses. They’re super sporty and perfect for daily wear.
Wallet – I am pretty sure I got this little card wallet from Francesca’s, but I have had it for so long I don’t even remember! It holds everything I need (credit card, ID, cash) and nothing I don’t. It fits perfectly in a crossbody without taking up all the room in the bag.
I love make-up. I think it is a great way to enhance your natural features and to be fun and creative with your look. Most days, however, I do not have time for a full face. If nothing else, like a quick skin, lip and mascara – even if I have to do it on the go.
Lip – I always like to have something on my lips – but, I spend a lot of time outside and we all know that wind & lipgloss don’t mix well. I am a huge fan of a classic red lip, but during the day I don’t need heavily pigmented lipstick. Lip Freak tinted lip balm adds just the right amount of color – plus had your lips buzzing with peppermint and cinnamon essential oils. I swear, I put this stuff on and my Kylie factor increases by at least 10 percent.
Skin – This Hello Flawless! Powder Foundation by Benefit is super lightweight and perfect for touchups through out the day. I have been using it since 2015. My color is Me Vain? Champange and somehow remains a perfect match all year, even with my ghostly to toasty complexion fluctuations.
Lashes – speaking of my holy grail products, I cannot say enough about Benefit’s Roller Lash mascara. Like the foundation, I have been using this since it came out in 2015 and it is the best. mascara. ever. I have tried many free samples of other mascaras (thanks, Sephora!) since I began using Roller Lash and truly, nothing compares.
Hand sanitizer – I am not a big fan of alcohol based hand sanitizer. It is harsh, drying and I have concerns about antibiotic resistance. But sometimes my hands feel dirty from being out & about. This Dr. Bronner’s organic lavender hand sanitizer is mild, cleansing and it smells AMAZING. Bonus? It doubles as baby calming spray. (jk).
Oil – my latest obsession is this Rose Oil by Shea Moisture. It is truly one of the best things I have ever smelled. It reminds me of flowers, springtime and all that is right in the world. I have been using it as a perfume and a hair smoother. A little bit goes a long way! I also have the body lotion and conditioner in this scent.
